HOW TO BUY A HOME IN TODAY’S MARKET WITHOUT FEELING OVERWHELMED
HOW TO BUY A HOME IN TODAY’S MARKET WITHOUT FEELING OVERWHELMED
I get it — buying a home can be a little stressful and, at times, overwhelming, especially in today’s fast-paced market. But fear not… I’m here to assure you that with the right mindset and preparation, purchasing a home can be an exciting and relatively stress-free experience!
Here’s how to prepare:
1.DETERMINE A BUDGET
Determine how much you can afford to pay towards a monthly mortgage by putting together a budget that includes your monthly income, all recurring debts, and future expenses such as estimated utilities, trash/recycling, maintenance, and more.
2.DEFINE YOUR PRIORITIES
Create a list of the non-negotiables you would like in a home, as well as any “nice to haves.” In a market with low inventory, it’s best to stay open-minded. Focus on your “must haves” and the things you cannot change, such as location and yard size.
3.GET PRE-APPROVED
In our current market, it’s essential to speak with a mortgage lender and get pre-approved before you start house hunting. Not only will you want to know your budget (which may change daily as rates change), you’ll want to be ready to act fast.
4. STAY FLEXIBLE
Flexibility is key. Be open to exploring different neighborhoods, consider homes that may need some TLC, and adjust your timeline if necessary.
Remember to trust the process, stay patient, and know that the right home is out there waiting for you.
