WORST ADVICE I’VE HEARD AGENTS TELL BUYERS THIS YEAR

Not all advice is good advice, and I’ve heard some (very) questionable opinions floating around in the real estate industry this year.

Here are a few of the views I’ve heard that I don’t necessarily agree with:

• “Wait for prices to drop… they’ll come down eventually”

Trying to time the market is nearly impossible, and waiting could mean facing higher interest rates or higher prices. The truth is that the best time to buy is when you’re ready!

No matter which way the real estate market is leaning, though, buying now means you can start building equity.

• “Skip the inspection to make your offer stronger”

Although this may seem like a great way to compete in a hot market, it could lead to costly surprises down the road. A home inspection gives you peace of mind, helps you avoid surprises, and protects your investment.

Rather than skipping inspection entirely, buyers can adjust the language in their offers to stay competitive while still safeguarding their investment.

• “Don’t worry about the neighborhood… the house is what matters.”

Yes, the home is obviously important, but the location plays a key role in your daily life and long-term investment as well. The neighborhood will not only impact the home’s resale value if and when it’s time to sell, it also influences your day-to-day experiences, sense of community, and overall happiness.

 

This brings me to my next point: Who you hire to help you navigate your real estate journey MATTERS. Not all agents are created equal. The right agent listens to your needs, provides honest guidance, and helps you make informed decisions every step of the way.
